Monument to a Miracle Congratulates Team USA Men’s and Women’s Hockey on Historic 2026 Olympic Gold Medals

Lake Placid, NY — February 23, 2026 — Monument to a Miracle proudly congratulates the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Olympic Hockey Teams on capturing gold medals at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, marking an extraordinary chapter in the legacy of American hockey and adding new meaning to one of the sport’s most historic dates - February 22.

For generations, February 22nd has symbolized belief, unity, and the power of sport to inspire a nation. On this day in 1980, the U.S. Olympic Team delivered the unforgettable “Miracle on Ice” in Lake Placid, defeating the heavily favored Soviet Union and igniting a moment that transcended hockey. Nearly four decades later, the spirit of that victory carried forward as Team USA Women captured gold in PyeongChang in 2018, redefining resilience and excellence for a new era.

The Monument to a Miracle project will create a life-size bronze tribute in Lake Placid recognizing all 20 players of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team, ensuring that their story, sacrifice, and inspiration live on for generations to come.
